Welcome Simone!

We are very excited for you to meet Simone Hofer, our first recruit for the B1 Soccer Academy Femenino side participating in the 2020 Mediterranean International Cup (MIC) tournament in April

She plays football at a very high level, playing both professionally in the futsal Eredivisie (first division of the Netherlands) for Drachtserboys as well as 11-a-side football with third division team Be Quick Dokkum in the third division.

It is not the first time that Simone plays with B1, as she was one of the members of the first female B1 team that competed in the last edition of MIC Tournament.

Simone was one of the central pillars of the team getting a very good role in the tournament after facing the Japan team and Inter Milan. The player was also a protagonist in the quarterfinals, in the match that faced us the current champion of the women’s MIC, RCD Espanyol.

From the Netherlands to Spain for soccer

We also had the chance to sit down with Simone and interview her so we could get to know her better.

Why B1 Soccer Academy?

“I am in Spain for 3 months for an internship from school. Didi asked me if I wanted to practice with B1 in the mornings to be ready for the MIC. I said yes because I am sure that the B1 coaches and players can teach me a lot of things to get better.”

What are your aspirations for the season?

“For Futsal, To be Dutch champions and win the cup with my team. With Be quick, to be promoted to a higher league.”

What is your long term objective?

“I would like to learn new things to get better, and play for a professional club in the future.”

What do you enjoy doing outside of football?

“Outside of football, I like to do some nice things with friends and family. Also I’ve been a coach since I was 13 years old, and I really like to help kids to get even better and better in playing soccer.”

Tell us about your past experiences in football

“I started playing soccer at VV VIOD when I was 4 years old. I have always played football against boys until I was 16 years old. In 2008 until 2014 I was selected for the KNVB (Dutch soccer association) regional talent team.”

How would you define yourself as a person?

“I would define myself as a motivated, social, athletic person with great focus. I am someone who is always there to help others. I take responsibility and show leadership qualities while on the field.”

What are your aspirations and thoughts ahead of the MIC?

“The MIC is a great tournament. You play against some really good teams. I am really looking forward to playing this tournament. If you do your best, there is always a chance to win the tournament.”

Simone is a passionate, disciplined, and determined footballer we are proud to have as part of our academy. She shall surely play an instrumental part in the B1 Soccer Academy Femenino team in April, and we look forward to taking on this journey together!
