Tuesday 16 the Female team and B1 staff arrived at the Mediterranean International Cup 2019 ready to give their 100%!!
Time runs fast and MIC finally came. For the first time, a female team represents to B1 Soccer Academy at MIC.
B1 female team is composed of eighteen girls from different countries: Netherlands, United Kingdom, Spain, United States, Venezuela, Portugal, Italy, and Poland.
The challenge was huge. Our group was surrounded by amazing teams: FC Internazionale Milano, the Japanese team JFA Academy Imabari and CF Palautordera.
Our first match was on Wednesday at 6 pm at Torres de Palau, in Girona, against the JFA Academy Imabari. Lots of nerves in the dressing room but ready to rock on, our girls had a nice first half with two close opportunities, but the Japanese team was really difficult to beat. Unfortunately, they found more spaces, scoring the first goal.
Our B1 coaches Marina Schachowskoj and Rosie Mendez encouraged and motivated the team. Even though we were really close, the Japanese finally won 0-1. But the team never gave up! We had still chances to step forward the next round.
The second day of competition
Thursday 18 was the most important journey for the team. At 1 pm, in Vidreres (Girona), B1 Female Team played against CF Palautordera. The match was really difficult for both teams, being almost equal most of the time.
But our forward Irene head-scored in the last minute, winning 1-0! We became so crazy and the whole team was celebrating it together! 3 important points that drove us to the classification.
Irene Alcón had just scored the first official goal of the women’s team in the history of B1 Soccer Academy. Something to remember!!
Finally, again, in Vidreres field at 7 pm, B1 Female Team played against FC Internazionale Milano. Very excited about playing against such a unique rival. A professional club. We could not beat FC Internazionale Milano, but the team did a good job and fought hard.
Thanks to our victory with CF Palautordera we could step up the final phase where another professional team was waiting for us. At B1 Soccer Academy, we can only show our admiration and proud of our B1 Female Team!
