B1 U16 fighting at MIC

Our U16 B1 Team arrived at Mediterranean International Cup 2019 ready to start the competition surrounded by B1 staff Victor González and Jaume Solis!

B1 U16 Team belongs to B1 Category, Group M, where there are amazing clubs like Gimnàstic de Tarragona.

The group round of the Mediterranean International Cup started for our U16 team Wednesday 17th at 6 pm in Sant Feliu de Guíxols, Josep Sunyer i Arxer Stadium, against the Chinese Academy Nama Sports Club.

Everything we could ask for was ready and we could not wait anymore to watch our boys playing. The match was really hard-fought for both teams, and finally, we couldn’t win. We lost by the minimum, 1-0.

“The team worked very hard and we fought until the end. It was a competitive match and I’m very happy with my players, the boys have given everything. We didn’t deserve to lose, but that’s football.” said Coach Victor after the match.

Thursday we had double chance to get the qualification again. Early in the morning, B1 U16 competed in Vilablareix against Nàstic de Tarragona, one of the best teams of the tournament in this category.

Despite the fact we didn’t win, we made things difficult for them. Nàstic had just won by 12 goals to 0 against CF Navata and we weren’t going to make things easy for them.

In the first half, the Tarragona team was superior and managed to open the lead on the scoreboard with two goals in a row.

Already in the second half, Victor’s team started very intensely and when only 2 minutes of the second half had elapsed, Mikel managed to score 1 to 2.

In the last stretches of the match and with the set of B1 turned on the attack, Nàstic Tarragona scored the final 1 to 3. But the bad news was not the defeat but the injury of Chinese midfielder Weiyi. Get well soon!

First points

The last match took place in Sant Feliu de Guixols at 4 pm against CF Navata.

The team had competed very well but had not yet been able to add a point to have a chance of qualifying for the next round.

The players knew they could win and with that, they went out on the field. The tiredness was beginning to show, but the B1 Players were determined to get the first 3 points.

In the first half, the Navata was closed in defense and the poor success of the B1 strikers made the result at the end of the first 25 minutes went from 0 to 0.

“It was a delicate moment, the boys needed to score a goal to gain the confidence to face the next games. I could only encourage them to keep working and striving to achieve the goal.”

Every effort has its reward, and it came in the form of a goal in the 46th minute. Rather, it came in the form of Mikel’s GOLAZO with a shot from outside the box. Amazing goal!!!

We could not make it to the next round but we had still opened the consolation round. The experience was not over yet!

Competing against unforgettable rivals and living a unique soccer experience together was the most important for us. Those players are the future!
